3 Ways to Improve Your Workspace Without a Large Budget

An ideal workspace is not only well organized, but also functional and has a splash of personality.   Of course a great workspace is conducive to high performance work output, but having a touch of personality is also important, as it promotes a positive attitude and creative thinking.   Creating a workspace from scratch with all new items can be very costly, and not always feasible. Here are three ways to achieving a great workspace without a big budget: repurpose, borrow, and purchase.

1. Repurpose

Oftentimes you have things around the house that you’re either currently using for other purposes or may not even be using at all. Take a stroll through your home and see items in a whole new light. Jars, containers, and vases can be used for holding pencils, pens, and markers. That hutch that no longer fits in the living room can be used to store office supplies and is a great printer stand. Sometimes the best store to shop in is your own home.

2. Borrow

It may sound strange to borrow things, but I’m sure we all know of at least one person who has items they don’t want to part with forever, but just have no use for at the moment.   These items are just collecting dust in the basement or taking up much needed space in their garage. This is another great opportunity to add to your workspace without spending money. Although having the item is only temporary, it’s a great way to test out whether the item is worth eventually spending the money on, or you may realize you have no real good use for it after all.

3. Purchase

Sometimes there’s just no getting around it. You have a need for an item, and you’ve decided to purchase it. There are still great ways to save money. It’s amazing what you can find at rummage sales, second hand shops, antique stores, etc.

Also, frequently many items go on sale, so put those items on your wish list and do your research.   Another tip is getting on a store’s email or text alert list. Often extra discount codes are given through those alerts. You’ll be amazed at what you can find and the money you can save.

By repurposing, borrowing, and purchasing items for your workspace, you can create a space that is unique and a spark of your personality that is also functional, well organized, and conducive to a high performance work environment.
