THE WHY

Why Get Transcripts?

Most people reading this likely already know the ‘why’ behind their decision to have transcription done of their audio/video files. Within this list may be your ‘why,’ and there may be a few more that you hadn’t even thought of:

  • SEO

  • Video Editing

  • Keyword Search

  • Legal Documents

  • Textual Record of a Meeting/Interview

  • Substitute for Handwritten Notes (dictation)

  • Aid in writing a dissertation, blog post, webinar, ebook, business pitch, learning guide, etc.

  • A special offering to clients/listeners: Not everyone learns best by listening. Some people learn best by reading. For others, English may not be their first language. They may be able to use an additional resource to have the English transcripts interpreted into another language. Having a transcript to accompany audio or video is a great service to your clients and potential clients, whether it’s available to everyone, for a fee, or as an opt-in.

Why Outsource?

TIME!!!!

You are a rock star at what you do. Yes, you are likely more than capable of doing the transcription yourself, but your TIME is much better spent elsewhere. And, yes, you could probably get someone else who works within your company to do it, but it’s not their area of expertise.

TIME is money – don’t waste either! Outsource to an Expert Transcriptionist.

Why Not Use Pham Transcription?

Client partnerships are not ALWAYS the perfect fit. Let’s just be honest.
  • If you’re looking for turnaround times less than 24 hours/same day services, I am not the right fit for you.
On average, it takes 4 hours to transcribe 60 minutes of audio. Although once in a while I can certainly complete tasks in less than 24 hours, I am not a cyborg. I have to maintain a work/life balance, and so, therefore, I am not “on-call” 24/7. I plan out my tasks so that all my clients can get their transcripts when they need them.
  • If you have large batches of files (several hours) and are looking for rapid turnaround times (24 to 48 hours), I am not the right fit for you.
Because I am a solopreneur, I am not working with a team of subcontractors that are “on-call” to quickly tackle large batches of audio files that may come in. Certainly, I can handle large batches of audio files but need the necessary time to work through them and produce the transcripts. Therefore, if you’re not in a hurry, please do contact me, and we can come up with an acceptable deadline.
  • If you are looking for closed captioning timestamps coded .srt or similar file types, I might not be the right fit for you.
Although I certainly know how to do timestamps/codes within a transcript and offer that service, I do .srt / closed captions on a case-by-case basis. These types of files are better done with the use of specialized software to which I am not an expert in.   (Manually adding in all the necessary timestamps/codes takes an excessive amount of time.) NOTE: YouTube videos do not need .srt files to create closed captioning because a .doc or .txt file can be uploaded and YouTube can “auto-sync” the file. In short, if you are looking for .srt/closed caption files, please reach out and we can discuss the best options for your needs.
