Katch for Periscope & Meerkat Video Archive Cloud Service

Katch Periscope

Klyde is such a good dog!  He can “katch” your public Periscope and Meerkat videos and archive them in the cloud for you!

Katch is a cloud-based service that allows you to archive your Live Video Feeds from Periscope and Meerkat by collecting them in one place.  They started out with Meerkat, and quickly move to include Periscope into the fold.  You can check out the website at Katch.me.

NOTICE:  As of May 4, 2016, Katch.me will be CLOSING and will no longer “katch” videos from Periscope and Meerkat.  Be sure to download any of your videos from Katch.me before the final deadline of May 2, 2016.

To get a complete walk-through of the website and description of the service, please watch the video.
Positives:
  • Good statistics: Number of hearts, views, comments, watched live.
  • Ability to share and/or embed.
  • Ability to download (your own videos).
  • Ability to edit (your own videos): Keep public, make private, or delete.
  • Ability to fast-forward, rewind, pause video.
  • Cloud-based repository.
  • Auto tweet replay link.
  • Available soon after live video has concluded.
  • Video replay does not delete automatically.
Negatives:
  • Download video does not include hearts and chat (comments/questions).
  • Does not display all chat messages (comments/questions) to the right of the video.
TIP:  If you have your Katch account set to auto record, DO NOT forget to either:
  • click on the bird in Periscope before starting your scope (to send out the auto tweet “LIVE ON #Persicope”)
  • OR use #Katch in your title.
Otherwise, Katch will not record your video.

If you have used Katch for Periscope or Meerkat to archive and share your videos and would like to share your tips/suggestions, please leave a comment below!
This has been another Quick Tip Tuesday.
Thanks for joining in, and hope to see you next week!
